Secure telehealth · California & IdahoA human place to begin
Many people come to therapy because they understand what is happening, yet still feel caught in the same patterns. Our work creates room to understand those patterns and what your nervous system has learned to do in order to protect you.
I'm Matt Moorhead, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. I offer a warm, collaborative telehealth space for clients who want both meaningful insight and practical movement toward greater safety, connection, and choice.
Ways to work together
Thoughtful, age-responsive therapy that considers your story, your relationships, and the responses your body developed along the way.
For teens and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, shame, disconnection, and patterns that no longer fit the life they want.
Developmentally responsive care that uses play, creativity, and connection to help children express and work through experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
For partners who want to understand recurring cycles, repair trust, and build a more secure connection.
For families navigating conflict, change, emotional distance, and the desire for healthier ways of relating.

How the work unfolds
My work is grounded in attachment, polyvagal-informed and trauma-informed care, EMDR, Play Therapy, and a nervous-system lens. These aren't labels you have to understand before beginning—they are ways of making therapy responsive to your actual experience and developmental needs.
We begin by understanding your experience, the meaning beneath it, and the patterns that make sense in the context of your story.
We build greater capacity to notice activation, remain present, and move through difficult emotions without becoming overwhelmed.
We work toward change that can be felt in daily life—in your choices, your relationships, and the way you experience yourself.
“The goal isn't simply to cope better. It's to feel safer, more connected, and more able to choose what comes next.”

Common questions
Yes. My practice is fully telehealth. Secure online appointments are available for clients who are physically located in California or Idaho at the time of the session. I hold a California LMFT license and an Idaho Mental or Behavioral Telehealth – Marriage or Family Therapist credential.
We meet by secure video from a private space that works for you. You receive the same focused, relational care without needing to travel to an office.
I work with children, teens, and adults, as well as couples and families. With younger clients, I incorporate Play Therapy to support developmentally appropriate expression, connection, and change.
Attachment and trauma-informed work help us understand your patterns and relationships. Polyvagal and nervous-system work help us notice and regulate protective responses, while EMDR can help process experiences that continue to feel stuck.

Begin with a brief consultation. We can talk about what brings you to therapy, answer practical questions, and determine whether working together feels like a good fit.
The next step
You don't need to have the right words or know exactly what therapy should look like. We can start with what is happening now and decide together what would be most helpful.
